Hearing Aid Technology & Trends for 2007

2006 has seen significant advancements in hearing aid technology especially "open-fit." This means that for individuals with normal or near normal low frequency hearing (good hearing for less frequencies) that leaving the ear canal open and placing a thin wire, often with the receiver in the canal has provided much improved hearing and clarity. This type of instrument is often very small, light weight and inconspicuous. Prior to the %u201Copen-fit%u201D style hearing instrument, many would complain that their voice was in a barrel, too loud, or they felt plugged up with other types of hearing aids. Many baby boomers and younger individuals with hearing loss are taking the necessary steps to better hearing because of the significant improvements.

We are also seeing more individuals seeking information. Recently, we launched our new website (www.azhearingaid.com) which will provide up-to-date information on new technology, links to manufacturers and other sources and our up-coming educational seminars. We will also send e-mails to our patients of new developments, technologies, any specials and information that may be of interest to our patients.

In 2007, all our audiologists will be attending educational seminars and training to continue to provide the most up-to-date technology and highest quality of services. We will be opening a new office next to the newest Scottsdale HealthCare Hospital just east of Scottsdale Road on Thompson Peak Parkway in February. We will be sharing this location with Jerry Josen, M.D., an Ear, Nose & Throat physician. Sherry Miller will be the Doctor of Audiology managing that office. We will continue to offer services in our other two Scottsdale and Phoenix locations. We are also hoping to arrange a no-interest financing plan and economy instruments as needed. We continue to work with two special needs programs for those who may not otherwise enjoy the benefits of improved hearing.

We also look forward to your comments that will enable Audiology & Hearing Aid Center to provide the best possible hearing health care to our patients.
